My right to say what I want

Another song I haven’t heard in years. Screeching Weasel – My Right. Brings back some strange memories, walking half out of it down the street with Kat and Meg to one of their houses. Sometime to harass the Mormons that Kat’s brother would invite over (never did figure out why) sometime to go work on whatever it was we worked on at Meg’s place… Kind of a blurry time in my life.

But that’s neither here nor there. More importantly, its hockey season bitches. The Devils are 5-4 so far. I haven’t been able to catch a game yet but I am waiting and watching. The wild are doing better and i have seen some of their games but its less interesting to me. Still, always good entertainment. Caught part of their game last Saturday over at the local tavern. Pretty nice to know some people who don’t hate hockey these days.

Got the bike into the shop on Monday, out of the shop today. $140 or so bucks, nothing bad which is great for me. loosens up my financial situation a little this month since my pay schedule is extremely bad for this month. Next month will be great but this one? Failure with a capital F. Which makes sense cause it is the first word in the sentence.

Work is picking up some, have to actually put in time there which is nice. Still giving a lot of thought to trying to find something that’s more stable all around when it comes to the work year. Its a good job with some pretty nice benefits but this 9 months of real slow followed by 3 months from hell thing? Yeah a bit old… But I am there through the end of the year.

Colorado in t-minus 9 days. really 8 in terms of present time to then time but that’s really pretty unimportant. had a chat with Andy recently and am definitely pumped for the trip. plus I get to see Sal, DD, and John John (there are pictures in the gallery somewhere). If Sal ever gets his phone fixed. Need to buy a few things for the trip yet but overall… all good. Plus…. 5 day weekend? Yes please.

Well I think that about sums shit up for me… How are you?

Blowing up my cranium.

Lets start at the beginning again. Not that it will be terribly interesting… 2 weekends ago I went to Eau Claire and had a blast. The favored activities included going for a ride or two with a good friend, go karts, candle pin bowling, video games, mini-golf and of course drinking too much while discussing movies. Was a good weekend.

This last weekend I went down to La Crosse to go to Oktoberfest with some friends. generally a good time and I didn’t even bother to get fully in the bag. Spent some good time with some good friends which is always good. I have a few pictures of that weekend but nothing that has been uploaded yet. Might, might not, depends on how quickly I lose the motivation to take care of that. At one point we ended up at this bar which was pretty cool. Really, most of the weekend was well spent.

Work is, as always, too much work. Training people in, being their backup, having them be my backup (ineffectually) and so forth. Going to be an interesting few months.

I leave for Colorado in less then 3 weeks. Looking forward to it.

Other stuff is probably unimportant. Just a quick update.

Saturday night

burns a redness on my face

I finally managed to stop listening to that one same CD. I apparently listened to it straight for almost 2 weeks. Its a good album but really, I needed more variety as it apparently snuck into my mood. So now it seems to be back to “Random – Play All” on the MP3 player and rocking out to whatever happens to be playing when I am at home.

So the Friday before memorial day I woke up feeling restless for various reasons so I hopped on the bike and started riding. Ended up hitting up South Dakota, just for a bit as I realised I was supposed to be meeting friends at the bar that evening. So I turned around came home.

Then on Saturday I went out for coffee and some reading, followed up by spending right around 8 hours at the state fair with Olaf, Kate and Anders. Was, truth be told, a damn good time, even if it really was way more walking then I am used to. Then it was out to the bars with some more friends.

Sunday I mostly bummed around, hung out doing very little before, you guessed it, going to the bars with a few friends. I am not used to having friends so readily available anymore, so it was pleasant but I am not used to going out that much at all anymore. Still, spent surprisingly little money at the bar.

The work week was, largely, uneventful. Some stuff here and there but nothing spectacular in any regard. They rolled out a new paid time off policy which is impacting me (and I am not happy about it) but if worse comes to worse… I call in sick. Could be worse in many ways.

This present weekend is shaping up to be largely uneventful. Nothing much planned and with the highways near me closed as of last night, its a pain in the ass to get much of anywhere these days. But hey, it could be worse. Actually between the crosstown project, the 35W bridge, the 694/35E construction, the 494 bridge… its really a pain in the ass to get anywhere all of the time.

I am looking forward to whichever weekend out of the next two that it is that I am headed towards E.C. Been managing to reconnect with some people who I haven’t really had a chance to talk to much recently. I am actually giving enough advanced warning that people can find the time to go to the bars or whatever! Guess its a sign of my advancing age (like I was telling one of my friends on the phone last night).

Also continuing to look forward to my trip to CO, just a few weeks away at this point. I think it will be damn nice to take a bit of a “real” vacation. I haven’t done that since 2005 for various reasons. Lots of day trips and the like but weekends or overnight trips but no multi-day trips to far away places. The best I managed was a trip last winter for 3 days to the east coast which I have many fond memories of.

Other then that, I guess the weather is starting to change. Or at least giving the impression that it wants to, which is much the same. Its 60s-70s around these parts during the day. One of my favorite seasons of the year, relax, a nice ride in the crisp air, stuff like that. Fall and spring man… the changing seasons. They really have some stuff going for them.
