It’s not much but all of it’s yours

Well another week done and gone. It really is amazing how quickly time can pass sometimes. Its hard to believe how much my life has changed in the last month to say nothing of 6, 9 or 12 month intervals. But unless you have been around to actually watch the changes happen then they are harder to quantify. Otherwise I just get told randomly “Man, you’ve changed” when i run into an old buddy or something. In fact I was told that on Friday night by an old friend. At least some of them seem to like the changes and, most importantly, I am fairly pleased with the changes.

So to continue with a bit of the banalities of my normal posts lets get down to brass tacks. Haven’t done much since last weekend. In fact I spent the majority of this week doing as little as possible. Odds and ends around the apartment, random chores, work, the normal day to day things that make up life. Although I did go out for a while on Thursday night for a few beers and some relaxing. Went out last night as well and met up with a buddy and one of his friends that’s visiting from out of town. Interesting but not as interesting as it could have been.

Work has been busy already although its not really the sort of busy that’s consistent or makes any sense. Instead I am busy taking care of brush fires and dealing with interpersonal issues some of which I myself am a part of. Friday I took a half day and went out riding, Just a nice random cruise to nowhere really. Did a tiny bit of wrenching on the bike but nothing real special. Saturday I took it out and picked up a few things, got it up in prime running shape and took a nice 170 or so mile cruise. Then the headlight died so i got to do more wrenching. Finally got it fixed today which is a damn good thing. Still thinking about dropping about $1k to get a couple of toys for it, like new pipes, new lights (LED lights no less) a new air intake, shit like that. Nothing really necessary but fun things. And a new helmet. I think I want to pick up a nice little half helmet at some point.

Today, aside from doing my wrenching, has been oddly productive and yet lazy at the same time. Really a nice change of pace. Got a few more things to take care of before I head out for dinner as well but its nothing real major which I am loving more then I can really say. Normally I would have tried to spend the last day of summer riding the bike but obviously that didn’t happen and I am actually pretty pleased with the results.

Been considering picking up a few things for my own personal amusement lately. Been using the 30 day list for big purchases but getting impulsive about the smaller stuff. Probably going to pick up a few video games within the next week or two for example. Sure it will run around $140 for them but hey it works. The big things I am thinking about getting are a new palm pilot (fake home phone more then anything) and a macbook for the hell of it. I really enjoy my mac mini so I am giving it some thought.

Anyway, that’s enough rambling I think. I need to go start taking care of things before I head I think. And who knows, maybe on my way back i will pick up a video game or two.

Nobodies winning ’cause neither is keeping score

Today is apparently the day of the moment where I get to feel like more of an asshole then normal. Scratch that I guess, yesterday was when I felt like more of an asshole then normal. Today I happen to feel more melancholy then anything else. But such is life and life continues.

So things… really hasn’t been much of anything going on in my life of note that I am ready to share with the world at large lately. Mostly because there hasn’t been much going on in my life of late. Some video games, some tv, some friends, pretty much the standard stuff I suppose. In fact last night I got together with a few friends for a few drinks. I was invited to go out today to the north burbs to watch some football but decided against and instead took care of some nagging shit I had been meaning to take care of around the apartment.

Work has been work. I have been doing pretty well lately which helps and certain other things have been going my way and completely 180 of that at times. Its a process but I am working to get myself into a position where I am happier with my work life. Now that there is no longer the thread of a bunch of training looming before the end of the year things help.

Been trying to make some plans with a few different friends to go visit them. Sadly the closest of them all is around 3 hours away and the furthest… well if I had the money I would be flying 😉 But Southeast Asia is something I should fly to regardless so that’s a bit different then a standard “Lets go to WI!” trip anyway.

Well I suppose in truth I don’t exactly know why I started writing this. Maybe just to try and get some use from it since I received the email recently telling me that this domain expires in December. Still haven’t decided what to do about it but hey if somebody else wants to put up the $10 a year its an easy solution 😉 What, no takers? Color me shocked… In reality I imagine I will figure it out in about mid to late November but for now… Eh, its a ways away.

Young and restless

Seems to be pretty accurate lately. Been feeling restless lately which is making certain things in life more difficult then normal. Then again, as I have been known to say “Farnaby Prevails.” The world is my oyster after all.

Storms are preparing to roll in right now and I am looking forward to it. They should be here in about 20 minutes, maybe before I even finish writing this. Speaking of weather I am getting really sick of seeing TS Hanna or Hurricane Ike shit on weather.com. Ungh, I seriously don’t care about the damn things so stop showing me crap about them. Same way I feel whenever there is a serious storm anywhere other then where I am. And when its here… I am probably out in it.

So anyway, standard up stuff time. Took this week quietly for the most part. BBQ on Monday before I went for a ride. Nice pleasant little ride. Tuesday was uneventful. Wednesday I ended up finishing off legendary in Halo3 with Andy. The last level actually took a lot less time then on Normal even if it was a lot more difficult. Now I need to get around to running through it on single player and from there… who knows, Mass Effect perhaps.

Thursday I finally made it back to Sandy’s. God I had missed the place and didn’t realize how much until I walked in again. Friday was BBQ and the Dead Pool. Today I went for a nice long ride after a target run. It was great to get away from life again for a few hours. Around 200 miles all told, up to Taylor’s falls, over to Amery, Down to Martell, back through River falls and headed home. Just a few miles shy of ticking my bike past 23k. Hard to believe that I have had it for barely over 2 years and I have put so many more miles then average on. And at the same time, I am way way behind a lot of people that I know.

Work is work, Monday will be rough but that’s a part of life. We are spending a lot of time drowning in training but there is nothing that can be done about it. The lady who is our over-boss is scared for her job so it helps her justify things. Particularly if we actually do our jobs and do them right.

Had an incident today where I got to see the uglier side of people. Always disappointing to realize how petty and … well I don’t know what else to say about it. There are a lot of things I could say but overall I just want to look at them and go “What makes you so much better?” Thing is… I rather doubt they would ever understand my perspective on things. They never seem to.

in other news… Well there doesn’t seem to be much other news. Tomorrow is going to be a day of taking care of business. Laundry, cleaning, trimming, etc. All the standard stuff. Maybe see my parents for the first time in like 3 weeks. Just general sort of stuff like that. Work on my resume some more as well.

Still debate on and off about whether or not I should bother keeping this website. I don’t really use it for much. So I might not renew the domain next time its up. Not sure but there is a bit of time there before it comes up.

So that’s that and I think I hear the fat lady singing.
