That’s when I gotta hide, what I’m feeling inside

Something brief, just for giggles more or less. Since Andy has left and gone back to CO I have been intermittently really busy with stuff one day and absolutely completely free the next. But to kick it from the beginning, got the bike dropped off on the 27th and then went and took care of stuff. Tuesday I got to indulge some of my anti-social feelings after such a prolonged house guest and did basically nothing all night. Wednesday was of course the drop date for MvC2 where I did … not great. Still totally worth the money spent and I am happy I did but man did I do not terribly well that night. Thursday I got the call saying what its going to take to get the bike out of hock, close to $200 and about a week possibly. But hey, it means it will be close to payday at least.

The weekend hit and Friday night I spent some time getting caught up on game demos. Seems since Andy was here I am getting back into gaming a bit more, wasn’t really expecting that for another few months when the weather started to turn again. But hey, whatever. Most of the demos I played sucked pretty bad in my mind for one reason or another so no buys there. Saturday was busy taking care of things around the house then the bar where I drank a decent amount and yet never got drunk. Interesting how that worked out but hey I am down. Sunday was mad social for part of the day followed by dinner and then some crazy soul caliber runs.

Today was back to work which is an interesting atmosphere these days with the health care reform talks going around the hill. Personally, having lived under various different systems (hooray for time abroad) I can see benefits and detriments for both. Its just a matter of which piper you want to pay since, believe me, there is always a price to this stuff regardless of which system you have. Otherwise I am cautiously optimistic at the moment regarding my prospects with certain employment possibilities.

Back to tentatively planning some trips at the moment. This recent vacation and how much I enjoyed the damn thing has reminded me that I should try to take vacations rather then staycations quite so often. So possibly a stateside trip this year and hopefully an international one next year if the economy recovers to the point where I can afford to go anywhere overseas. Either that or just go to some place even worse. Hello Kyrgyzstan! Although I am sure its a beautiful place.

Otherwise most of everything has been covered at this point. And amazingly enough, the weather has started to feel at least a little bit like summer in MN again. Humid, how and Hellish sums it up well enough for somebody who has a built in furnace. Other then that life is pretty good at the moment.

Who could it be now, here she comes

What a fucking whirlwind the past week or so has been.

Friday night my buddy shows up, Saturday morning he goes off to visit somebody else and I do my thing for the day. Sunday was chill followed by Monday heading out of town with him down to Madison to visit other friends. Tuesday was up to Oshkosh (b’gosh y’all) to see yet another friend, then back to Madison where 4 of us go out and I ended up way to drunk. Bad idea I will freely admit that. Wednesday was chill which was nice, followed by driving back to the cities on Thursday where we chilled for a while then went to see the hangover. Good movie.

Friday was back down to Eau Claire which was interesting in a variety of ways in its own right. Later that night was back to the cities and then some video games. This has been the first day where I had any real time to myself. Loved every minute as well. Went out on the bike for a while and of course, after ~130 or so miles my starter dies. So now I get to take the bike back to the shop for the third time in a month or so. Its rideable (albeit illegally) so long as I hotwire it.

Other then that, not looking forward to going back to work on Monday but totally happy to not be driving anywhere for a while. Been a great week but a fucking whirlwind that’s for goddamn sure.

Time to go do some stuff for me and see some other friends for a bit of a change.

In the night I hear ’em talk, coldest story ever told

Somewhere far along this road he lost his soul

So lets see where we were when we last updated this sucker. Hrm, what have I done since last Monday? I went to the Genius bar and managed to get the powerbook into, essentially perfect shape. There are a few very minor case flaws and one that’s a bit more then minor but it works and I definitely like it a hell of a lot. Its become my “go machine” which is impressive how quickly that happened. It also makes me question some of my older/other machines. Like: “What the fuck am I doing with a grand total of 5 laptops in varying states of usefulness?” The old thinkpad that I want to install puppy on serves a purpose of “project” sure but if I complete what the hell will I do with it? The old dell with the busted screen? Haven’t even looked at it in a few years. The windows laptop is handy if I ever did anything that required windows. Really I am using 4 computers for the most part, this one, the laptop hooked up to the TV as a bad media server, the powerbook and then my mac mini gets used intermittently and as a server for the 360. I guess its one of the hazards of being a huge geek that I have so many computers and other peripherals.

In terms of bike news… I am anxiously awaiting most of the replacement parts from HI to arrive here so that I can get the bike straightened out. Also hit about 450 miles between Friday and Saturday of riding. Pretty soon its going into the shop for some service. Interesting note about the bike this year is that I have ridden more this year already then I did the entirety of last year. I have also owned the bike for more then half of her total miles at this point, spitting distance to 28,000 miles. I suppose its not really much of a surprise that I have started having lower back problems either. But I am willing to go with those issues because I love it so much. Just need to find a more permanent solution for the sake of my back.

Work is still work, I am heartily anticipating my vacation that’s just a single work week away from now. Not just because I am looking forward to seeing my friends but because I am hoping I can go back to work feeling a bit more refreshed. I have certainly felt burnt out this past week. It could be worse but I do totally dig the idea of some time away from the mess that is working for the man.

Plus I am stupid excited to see some of my closest buddies again.

Also, I doubt many people here will go to jail but if you do… here is an idea to make your life a little easier (in theory). I almost want to try that out although I am sure ts a stupid bad idea. Probably a better idea to just buy a gun or two (if I had the money) since I have been thinking about getting back into that some.

Otherwise… its summer, the weather is beautiful and life is frankly… fucking awesome. How about yours?
