He want a wife, he just lookin for the right type

So most people who even sometimes read this already know about my minor accident last week. So lets not dwell on that, instead moving forward onto things that are a lot more fun to discuss.

Most of my 3 day work week was pretty quiet, just spent feeling sore and relaxing, taking care of other things throughout the evenings. Finally Thursday ended at work and I went for a ride, just a short ~100 mile jaunt south of the cities followed by a trip to the bar to see some friends. Friday was wake up and then hop on the bike to fight my way through the traffic of people “going north” to get myself a new windshield for the bike. No pictures but it does look good, I must say that.

After getting that sorted I headed out for more of a jaunt, until the weather started to look moderately shady. Went home and took care of some other things so that I could spend the rest of the weekend enjoying myself. So of course on Saturday I woke up to rain that seemed to stick around. Eventually it cleared up some and I ended up heading west this time to go for a ride. After that I ended up doing some BBQing with some friends before sacking out around 12:30-1am. Sunday I woke up to bright sunshiny skies and nothing to do. So of course I ended up hoping back on the bike. Ended up going east then south. All told I ended up putting ~750 miles on the bike in about a 72 hour time span. Its no Iron butt rally but it was still a heck of a lot of fun.

I also ended up picking up my mom’s old powerbook g4 from her yesterday. Unfortunately right now its the prettiest paperweight rather then anything functional. In my opinion this is due to both a design flaw on apple’s part (*gasp* say it ain’t so!) in regards to the power port and adapter for the PB. But, there is an appointment with the genius bar so we will see just how much it costs to get that rewired. chaps my ass to have to pay to get something repaired too. Still, hopefully it will be functional fairly shortly.

Otherwise, work is work, nothing really exciting. 2 weeks until my vacation from work which I am looking forward to. A week away from the office as well as a week spent seeing good friends will do me damn well. Plus it should coincide well with when I need to drop the bike off for regular service. Ironic since it was just in the shop for non-routine service.

Other then that… nothing really worth mentioning right now. Suppose I should go get ready for work so that I can make into the office on time today. Much as I can think of better things to be doing with my day then spending it at the office.

I really can’t disparage apple apparently. It was the damn power supply. I cna pitch about paying $85 for a new one though. Still, its pretty nice to have a new computer.

And we can pop bottles all night

So its been a pretty damn good week. Been trying a lot of different things and it seems like those changes are working out well which makes me happy as hell. We will see how long I stick with those changes but for right now I am happy with those changes. Not going to go more in depth as I don’t want to jinx myself.

Last week I mentioned that I was going to drop the bike off at the shop. Dropped her off on Monday afternoon, finally found out what was going on yesterday. Admittedly I was pretty damn frustrated while I was waiting since it seemed that I couldn’t get a straight answer as to what the hell was going on. Yesterday I found out that the short had been found and that it was, surprise, due to the light bar! Still not sure what all is going on, but I should be finding out in around an hour or two. Slim chance that I will even be able to pick up the bike today which, if it happens, would be outstanding. Would make me happier then a pig in shit so to speak. Especially since I dropped her off during a week that would have been stellar for riding. 90+ temps a few days this past week and frankly, the bike is cheaper then A/C.

I am also in the midst of a 4 day weekend, with this being day two. So while I would love to be out riding as much as possible during these days off its also doing wonders for me to clear my head and not put up with the normal b.s. that comes with any 9-5er. Or in my case, 7-3:30 but whatever. Also surprisingly I am not torching my sleep schedule (at least yet) been up by about 7 am both days off so far with no real difficulty, which is admittedly late for me during the work week but not terrible.

Really looking forward to Andy getting here. According to the countdown on my phone its ~20 days until I see him. Means ~23 days until I get to see Trevnor as well. Believe me when I say that I can’t wait. I just hope that MvsC2 hits XBLA before he gets here. Course if it doesn’t I can always play it on the dreamcast with him which is also killer. Been meaning to grab some DS games as well so that I can play some during the increased downtime of my life but it hasn’t grabbed me lately. Still another game or two would be great for the trip down there and while those two do their thing (read: 40k)

I have been surprising myself again lately and cooking dinner most nights. Its not always the healthiest meals but I have been making dinner again which is a good start. I need to start making pastas again but with the 90+ degree temps that we have been rocking I have been loathe to turn on the oven or stove in any way. Instead its been things like a salad and pork chops in the toaster oven. Never knew how much I would come to love that thing when it was gifted to me after high school. Hell, lasted a lot better then my microwave which I got at the same time.

Still waiting a bit on my new laptop. Really looking forward to having a new toy to play with. Seriously, now that I think I have figured out what I am going to do with it I am anxious to get around to it. Also makes me more interested in getting an iPhone so that I can potentially do tethering with it. Then again I don’t want to pay those service charges yet. That might change in the future though, who knows.

Other then that, life is pretty much the basic status quo. Kinda wordy for a “life is the same, carry on boys” update I suppose but hey, its early enough here and I still have ~ 35 minutes until I can call the shop to find out more about my bike. Obviously a touch anxious on that one as I want it back.

Another nail in the coffin

What a world, what a world. I mean that in a mostly positive way too.

Life has been continuing apace of what it was before, still sticking to my (mostly) quiet life style that I have been trying to cultivate for a little while. I burned myself out pretty hard a while back on that stuff and the whole “in bed early” thing has been a pleasant change. Course it doesn’t always work out but who am I to complain.

Riding has been generally great although I have slowed down a fair amount this past month, only racking up ~5-600 miles to far this month. Still at just about 2,500 so far this year. Getting to the point where she is going to need to go in for some fairly routine work. Although I am thinking that there is a short in the system as well due to my adventures on her yesterday. Bit of a puddle here and there when stopping for breaks. Although I suspect that’s from the overflow hoses rather then anything leaking as it didn’t seem to be running extra hot at all. In addition I blew the same fuse twice and I suspect I know where the short is on that. The part that had me worried is that she was having a hard time starting a bit towards the end. So I figure drop her off and make sure she gets a thorough look see and hope for the best. The only real downside about yesterday was that I ended up with a lovely scorch mark on my forearm from trying to find the source of the puddle. Going to make long sleeve shirts … uncomfortable for a week or two.

In other news it seems that I am going to have another new computer heading my way. A lovely old powerbook g4 which I am actually pretty excited about. Even with its various issues I think it will be bother a handy addition and a lot of fun. More on that when I get her I suppose.

Other then those two bits most of what I have been doing for the past two weeks is reading, cooking and getting shit organized around the house. Recently read The Road and World War Z. I think the next two books that I will be getting from the Library are The Master & Margarita and Down & out in Paris and London. For some reason I have been totally digging on reading again and its been a pleasant change. Only took me 3 years of living here to get a library card. To a library ~7 blocks away. Cooking wise… its grilling season baby. Burgers, pork chops, steaks and chicken have all be getting fair shakes at my place that’s for sure. And as for the apartment… I was told recently that I am “nesting” which is sort of fitting I guess. Been re-purposing things I can’t sell on craigslist and just generally cleaning up the entire damn place to make it feel both like home and like new again. Although I do still want to sell that printer I never use.

Ok, I think that’s largely enough about my less then exciting life. Need to start planning for what i am going to do with my upcoming long weekends. At least the week off next month has a fairly well defined plan.
