I’ve lost more to my traveling soul

Then I care to talk about so I’ll be out, I’ll be on the road

Lets see what has happened in the past two weeks? Not much of note actually now that I think about it.Mostly working and riding, along with a few other odds and ends. I guess my decision to have a boring life for a change has worked out which probably means that it was the right choice.

Ticked my bike up past 25k about a week or so ago, means I have put on about 1k so far this year which isn’t bad at all considering the semi cruddy weather at best that we have had. I am finally getting myself broken in again so that multi hundred mile days don’t kill me immediately which makes me happy. Means that there are going to be some more long days in the saddle ahead of me.

Work is work, not happy with my present situation but am happy to be employed. We will see how things go on Tuesday when they roll out the new PTO policy and what the hell the policy actually is. Might change my opinion regarding employment depending on what it is. Then again I really like collecting a paycheck and I doubt they can do anything to piss me off bad enough to actually quit. Might make me look harder though. Either way i have a long weekend coming up, 4 days off with nothing that I actually need to get done other then an appointment Friday morning. So maybe I will go on a road trip.

Did some redecorating over the course of the past week and its really amazing how little things can both make a place feel brand new and at the same time even more like home. A few things left to take care of on that front but I imagine that within the week it will all be straightened out and I will be rather pleased. So far I have been pleased anyway.

I also shouldn’t have spent the money on Broken Steel. Now I want to pick up The Pitt and Operation Anchorage and I am not sure that I am ready to sacrifice my life to fallout 3 again. Would probably help if I hadn’t beaten the actual game so completely on my first play through. Although, now there is a puppies perk. makes me chuckle.

The next few days are going to be busy but it will be good to see people again. Hell, pretty much everybody I have plans to see over the next few days I haven’t seen in months. I think the most recent for any of them is the beginning of March.

And with that, I think its time to go get ready for a tiring day at work and finish taking care of the things I didn’t get done over the course of the weekend.

Teardrop on the fire of a confession

Been an interesting few weeks I have to say that. Been bouncing between bouts of extreme productiveness and merely moderate productiveness but I have gotten more done recently then I care to think about. Matter of fact right now my to do list contains just two bills that come up pretty rarely and nothing else. Add that into getting my grandfathers pocket watch repaired, the apartment cleaned up for spring, my lease signed, some framing that is being done and so forth and I am feeling pretty damn good about all in that area of my life.

Speaking of feeling good, I have been riding a fair bit lately now that the season is here. Over 800 miles put on so far and really its been less then a month worth of true riding season. Its definitely taking me a while to get myself put back into prime riding shape though, up for hundred of miles a day. After my first 250 mile day of the season I was certainly feeling pretty damn rough. But I am getting more and more put back together as the days progress. Course it would need to stop raining first and we do need the rain.

Work is continuing, as the economy continues to get worse I continue to just be thankful that I have a job. If I lose my job I am actually unsure what I will do so its without a doubt up to me to keep my job. Of course keeping my ears and eyes open but I am more interested in keeping my present job then finding a new one. Less effort for one thing and its a relatively sure thing which is rare right now.

This weekend has also reminded why I delete phone numbers from my phone sometimes. Seriously… Its been an odd weekend for that, without a doubt. Good for me I am relatively good at ignoring the stuff I need to ignore until I am ready to deal with it. Otherwise… life continues more or less apace as always. Playing Braid and I recently downloaded the demo for the red faction game. Both solid distractions although I wish there was more to the RF demo. It was over just a bit too quick once I adjusted to the controls.

And with that, time to shower and go hoist a few at the VFW in remembrance of a friend.

So many weird and stupid things

Now I know that you were wrong

Randomness seems to be the flavor of the weekend for me right now. There are worse things though and it certainly keeps life … interesting.

Last week I was lent the box set of Firefly and didn’t have exactly high hopes for the series. After watching it however I was duly impressed. The movie (serenity) was good as well but the show was far superior in my opinion. Overall it was certainly worth watching, there is no doubt about that, especially if the idea of a “space western” doesn’t make you cringe.

Other then that its been business as usual right now, trying to get as many things as possible taken care of in advance of when I need to get them done and its working out surprisingly well. Giving me enough time to work on the projects that I actually want to work on for a change. Like getting the Pandora application working on Linux which I wasn’t really expecting to work. Speaking of, I do recommend the application, its good shit.

However now riding season is here so I will be doing more and more of that before too long. Still a bit chilly for longer rides but overall I enjoy it enough that I don’t much care about the cold.

Otherwise a lot of life is generally status quo right about now. Got the same old things going on at work, same shit different day in my mind, etc. Its nice to have a routine right now though since things had been changing a great deal in the past few months.

And remember kids live your life. Time to hit those dusty trails.
