How’d you get from the bar to this mattress

And when you got here then what happened?

Been a while so it has. So whats happened in the past two weeks? Sometimes I have to ask myself.

The vacation was superb, there is no question of that. Saw a lot of friends, managed to get a lot of relaxing in and beat Gears 2 (finally) as well. Did a fair amount of reading in those 5 days or so as well. ~3000 pages I think. I wasn’t looking forward to going back to work that’s for sure, although it actually ended up being not bad. Not to say that I am not looking forward to taking more time off this summer since I certainly am. Still trying to figure out the logistics behind any trips I end up taking but I am sure they will come together, or not, as it goes.

Speaking of work, it continues, nothing terribly exciting going on there but I think there might be some small deviations from the status quo before too long. Not sure why I think this but its a feeling, perhaps wishful thinking. For the most part I am happy to be employed in the current economy and, oddly enough, in a position where I can save some money each month. Feels like I am, for right now, doing well in that area.

Still waiting for the weather to get better and stay better. We are back to snow in MN with more coming tonight and tomorrow apparently. Not exactly what I want for my April but que sera sera. At least after that its supposed to be sunshine and lolly pops or something. Means that in a few days I will probably start going for after work rides again which will be fun especially with gas prices under $2 for the moment.

Got a bunch of old photos developed and transferred to my computer this weekend. Most of them are from when I was living in England and I have to say it brings back a lot of rather interesting memories. Puts a lot of rather interesting things into perspective as well although that’s largely neither here nor there. Caused me to look up some of the people from that period of my life as well. Very interesting to see what all they are up to. Some are expected but some are very surprising to me. In both good and bad ways.

Enough rambling though, here is a music video and now I am off to watch some firefly.

But you, you always lose.

Not much that is of interest going on right bow but a few quick updates.

Finished playing fallout last week. I loved the game until Raven Rock ended and after that I was basically “meh” towards the entire thing. Sure the Liberty Prime part was great but it wasn’t a whole lot of actual fun. And the actual ending, the last thing you really do in the game? That pissed me off more then anything, possibly because I had Fawkes with me and that should have given another alternative (same as if you have RL, Charon, etc). Still the game was overall a lot of fun until then and I imagine that I will play through it again at some point. I did end up with all non karma related achievements on my first play through however so there isn’t a ton of things left for me to do.

In more general news, the bike is back out. Got her up and running on Monday and went for a short spin. Went out for a few hours again yesterday. All told I have basically cleared a tank of gas through her so far with no issues which is great. And its amazing how cool it is to go riding next to a lake that’s frozen solid, especially when it is a lake as big as Minnetonka. As the weather continues to warm up I suspect I will be riding her more and more. Feels good to be on the road.

Have the time off for my family reunion, even though I am tentative about going. Probably will end up doing so just not entirely sure that I want to. If not, hey, I still end up with a 4 day weekend and that’s pretty awesome. Also have plans to get together with a buddy in about a month when he comes back from a year of traveling the world and scuba diving. I am curious to see whether a year of living on various beaches in three different continents has managed to give him a tan yet. My bet is no. Combine that with the other things going on and I feel surprisingly busy in a good way.

Overall, life kicks ass. And with that, time to finish my coffee and get prepared for brunch.

Who’s breaking you off

Well it seems that spring has arrived in Minnesota. Weather in the mid-upper 50s for a few days in row, most of the snow is gone unless it was in the 12 foot high piles. The roads are still too sloppy for me to really want to take the bike out but its getting there, slowly but surely. Actually not really slowly since it snowed like a week ago. With any luck this will continue and we will be full on into spring in another week or so. God I love springtime even if I haven’t really done a great job of taking advantage of our nice weather yet. Soon enough that will happen though.

Fallout 3 has almost lost its hold over me. I have taken so long in between advancing the main story line that I am actually finding myself mostly indifferent to completing the game at this point. Although it doesn’t help that I have almost completely run out out of things to do that aren’t the main quest. All of the achievements I have left will be completed as I progress the main story since I know the final bobblehead is in Raven Rock and I am sure I will encounter at least 3 more computers to hack between 87 and Raven Rock. There are no other achievements in the game other then the story or Karma ones left to me. I find it very interesting at this point that I preferred the achievement hunting to the game itself. Although I guess it makes sense since the primary story is ok and the sandbox parts are whats great. I will still probably finish it within a few days just to finish it off but I feel a lot less driven then I used to.

Really looking forward to my vacation coming up in … 9 days or so. Still have no exact idea what I am going to be doing other then for the first night when I am headed to the bar. Heard tell that I might end up going out on the second night for free bacon as well but honestly I doubt that. I do suspect I will be having Bloody Marys at least once though. Speaking of going out, went out Friday with a buddy I haven’t seen since Christmas. Always great to see him and get cheap ass beer. We also ran into a mutual friend’s ex, that was a little strange. Not bad, just odd.

So in the current throws of the economic crisis I am doing like everybody else and trying to spend less money. Its actually surprising how well it goes for the most part. There have been a few bumps here and there but that’s mostly due to “Oh crap, I need to buy a gift” type situations rather then “Wow I feel lazy, lets go out to eat” situations. Its a great change to see just how less money I am spending.

Still absolutely in love with my T|X. Seems I am using it more often then my actual computers. More often then my MP3 player recently as well. Its really interesting to see just how much love it gets and with good reason. Amazingly functional device. I might someday replace it with an iPod touch but right now that doesn’t jive that well with the whole save money idea and wile it would be nifty its not an urgent thing to me at this point. The other thing that I am surprising myself with lately is twitter. Its a retarded thing but I am finding myself actually enjoying it. Dear god, I am one of those people now!

I love seeing the location in this video since its in one of my favorite parks to go for a walk in. Need to make it back there sometime soon, see whats going on there now. Maybe use my new camera there and see what the world exposes me to this time.
