She came into the bar respectable but left a whore

Just some quick updates to round out an excellent weekend and mention some site changes.

Went and saw The Watchmen on Friday night. Over all I was pretty pleased with it. At times it seems almost a little too faithful to the graphic novel but there are worse things and I am overall pleased. I say that it was worth the $10 to see. Plus going out with some friends after the movie to Mort’s was pretty great as well. Anyway though, the movie gets my recommendation.

Work is work, enough about that. Fallout continues to eat chunks of my life. I am reasonably certain that whenever I do finish fucking around in the sandbox I will have gotten every non-karma achievement in the game. On the first play through. I seem to be most of the way there already. Gears 2 with my buddy out in CO is going well whenever we actually sit down to play. Damn these busy schedules, as much as its nice to be busy.

I am trying to finish the Dark Tower before the weather finishes getting nice again and I pull the bike out. I always do less reading in the summer it seems. then again I haven’t picked it up in about a week, just been too damn busy lately. Plus side is that if I actually do get going I shouldn’t have much of a problem. Seems I have 2-3 weeks before the weather is nice enough again.

In site news, I got around to doing some site maintenance today. Some of it is obvious, some of it less obvious and some completely behind the scenes. Upgraded to WP 2.71, changed the archives to be stored by year rather then monthly now (the long list was irritating to me, all the archives are still there just harder to find individual entries), Arranged it so that my most recent whatever on twitter (gets updated semi-randomly these days) will be underneath the web cam on the main page, tweaked the site so that if you visit on your PDA/iPod touch/Phone it will display better then before and removed a bunch of unused crap from the back end of the gallery. Not a bad 2 hours worth of work I have to admit. Structurally the site is close to where I want it, good enough for now. Might still do a graphical upgrade but i am unsure about that.

Speaking of PDAs, I have fallen in love with my T|X all over again. Fucking awesome machine. All the better since I am finding myself less and less interested in being in front of a computer again.

Finally I cam across this video again recently. Forgot how fun it is.

It might sound dodgy now

But it sounds great when you’re dead

So lets see… its been months since I bothered to really update this thing so there is a hell of a backlog although I am not going to cover 100% of anything since I don’t have the patience to update 3 months worth of my life.

Some highlights, been traveling a bit since November. made it down to Chicago and hooked up with some coworkers and other friends for drinks the weekend before the inauguration. Great time and the best vacation I have taken since I went to Colorado in 07. Other then that I have been down to Eau Claire a few times as well, once for some Christmas stuff with my family, once for a going away party for a good buddy. Hopefully he has a good time in the sandbox.

Work has continued to be work. Its a pain in the ass some days and great other days. It continues to pay the bills and give me enough money to let me play and enjoy my life so I can’t really complain about that. Obviously it paid enough for me to buy the TV pictured a few posts down cash in hand. been taking time off here and there which is helping with both the tedium and the fact that I am not enjoying my work.

Have a lovely 5 day weekend coming up towards the end of the month that I am looking forward to in a huge way. Mostly looking forward to having no plans and no obligations that won’t be taken care of ahead of time. I will probably get bored partway through but for right now it sounds like the best shit since sliced bread.

As previously mentioned Fallout 3 has eaten my life. There is a reason I didn’t pick it up at release and I am glad for that. I have sunk about 2 work weeks worth of my life into the first playthrough. Its kind of frightening how engrossed I get in that game and as such, after I finish beating the ever living snot out of this playthrough I imagine I will put it on y shelf and try to not play it for a while. I think that would be best but we will see how successful I am at that. Other then that I have bought Gears 2 and started playing it somewhat. Made for a good after valentines day get together with a buddy. So far i am enjoying it although not as much as Fallout.

The other major time sucker in my life right now is the Dark Tower series. Since I restarted it after christmas I have made my way to book 5. I read a half a book in a day and then put it down for 4-5 days and then pick it up again. So far its a great series and I understand why it was recommended to me so long ago by so many people. i am thoroughly enjoying it.

I am certainly ready for summer to roll around. Seems like just yesterday that I was pulling the bike out of storage last year. Plus I am looking forward to just sitting in the morning on my balcony and enjoying my coffee. On the other hand I can admit that I do enjoy winter to some extent. Just ready for it to be over now.

Other then that… life continues and I continue to enjoy it. There are plenty of other things going on that I don’t want to comment on, for various reasons, so this ends the update.

And I’m ready to go off on your ship

Fallout 3 has consumed a lot of my life. When i finish my first play through I will post the amount of time but right now I am tracking towards ~50 hours give or take 5. And I expect more play throughs. It is, head and shoulders, the best game I have played in the last 6 months so far. Although, that is without a complete play through so that might change.

In other news I have started removing some stuff from the site in preparation for an eventual change, although it will be gradual. Gallery 3 will probably be the point where I force myself to make major changes since I removed some (OK, around 100 pictures) in preparation for that.

2009 has been a great year so far. 2008 ended up being a great year and ended on a very high note. Seems to have carried over to this year which is great in my book. Made some changes to my life over the past year and I am happier then a pig in mud.

And that’s all for now kids.
