But I asked around the bar and they said you were gone for a couple of days

On a vacation in the drunk tank so they’d say

So i promised an update this weekend and surprise surprise the weekend is here. Plus its a crappy rainy overcast day so that provides further incentive.

So a mighty quick recap of things from the past month or so. Spent the weekend of the 8th out in DC visiting the lady friend who was out there for work. had a grand old time, mostly doing sort of touristy things. We went for a nice walk along the mall, saw the Vietnam, Lincoln, Korean, FDR, and Jefferson memorials, although I only have one picture worth showing right now of those. Not that there weren’t others taken, just never bothered to clean them up or anything. Plus I like that one. Also went to the old brickskeller and a couple of other places. Over all a hell of a trip and one that I don’t regret at all. Didn’t tell anybody that I was going out there really as I didn’t feel like meeting up with anybody, just relaxing and spending time together. Bonus: Picture of a statue of my, rather ugly, ancestor. Accomplished man though.

The rest of the month has been relatively uneventful… there are a few things that I am not ready to talk about yet although I am sure that eventually I will be. Lets just leave it as I learned my lesson with no negative consequences otherwise so overall it was something for the best and come back to it at a later date.

I have been relatively domestic lately, cleaning out the closest (not in some sort of metaphor either) donating clothes I no longer wear, doing some deeper cleaning then normal, updating my wardrobe, etc. I guess its just that time of year where I want to clean up, start fresh and get myself moving into summer.

I have managed to get out on the bike exactly twice so far this year. Normally I would have a few hundred miles under my belt by now, but instead I have right around 130 miles. That said, with $4 gas before the holiday weekend, hell before may 1st, I imagine that I will be using the motorcycle for commuting and such more then in previous years. Unless of course this weather never really changes. For those not in the know, MN has been having pretty unseasonable weather lately. Lots of rain, still snows occasionally, cold overall. Not good for much of anything at the end of the day. I, along with everybody else up here, keeps hoping that the weather will turn nice. But so far, according to weather.com it doesn’t seem that there will be much in the way of a break anytime too soon. Frustrating to say the least.

I am in the beginning phases of planning a trip down to Madison this summer for a long weekend to visit my wayward friend who should be back in the states, to say I have missed him is no understatement. Haven’t figured out the exact when yet but i suspect it will be on the bike (provided that it starts to get above 60 for a high and we can go more then 24 hours without rain of some sort). Would be nice in a lot of ways to hop on the scoot and take a nice 250-300 mile trip with an actual destination for a change, no question about that. I also need to get ahold of my buddy out in Colorado and figure out a trip out there. Or whether I should even think all that much about it might be a better way of describing things. Also trying to figure out at least 1 or 2 more trips with the lady friend. Right now all I really know is that I have the time away from work available but I should start trying to figure that out.

So yes, things with the lady friend are still going quite well, to my and everybody else’s surprise.

Work is still work. I am spending some time looking around to see what else is going on out there in my and other companies. The economy is starting to look better (how many times have I said that before?) so there are more openings around and I am somewhat interested in finding a new challenge as I have been doing this for long enough that there isn’t much new to excite me (or that). We’ll see what happens I suppose.

Currently my main source of entertainment is coming from Sons of Anarchy which netflix recently put on streaming. The first two seasons anyway as the third isn’t on DVD and the 4th starts this year. Its a hell of a show, no question about that and the fact that I ride makes it even more interesting to me. I have met a few 1%s in my day and for the most part they are nice people although I am sure that they don’t have to be. But I have no interest in finding out that side of things.

Otherwise there isn’t a ton going on which I mostly love. Its good for me to be taking some time for myself, get myself in order and ready for whats coming in the future, whatever that may be.

Well, its time for me to start being domestic for the day, laundry, cleaning, probably buying a mothers day present and such as thats something I really need to get on (and thats my reminder to people, love your momma) but I want to leave you with an old favorite.

The Heartland Mother Fucker
Sippin whole milk mother fucker

So another month passed with no updates from me on Idoru. No real surprise at this point, hell its more of a surprise when there are updates then when there aren’t at this point I think. No big deal though. At one point I had a grand idea to redo this entire site but frankly that doesn’t seem that likely to happen at this point, mostly because Idoru has taken a huge back burner in my life over basically anything else.

However when I was setting forth some goals for myself (some of which will take a loooong time) one of the personal goals I set was to use Idoru for something, anything, more often. So I want to ask all two of you who ever read this (if its even that high anymore) what the hell I should do with Idoru. Should I stick with this blog format? Should I redesign it visually? Should I turn it into something else completely? What are you guys interested in seeing in this little corner of the internet?

Since that question is unanswered at this point, I figure I will write at least one more relatively consistent update. Recently I took a trip down to Florida for a Thursday through Monday night long weekend. Partially birthday present, partially just regular old vacation. Overall the vacation was absolutely fantastic, the lady friend and I spent pretty much the entire trip reading, swimming, sitting on the beach, sitting by the pool, etc. Hell, I even got a sunburn which is pretty damn rare, no question about that. Overall just an absolutely amazing time though and one that I hope to do again this year, even if its not down in Florida.

Speaking of trips, I will soon be heading out of town for… well not even a long weekend, just about 48 hours out of Minnesota, in a town that I haven’t been to since 2004. Should be a fun time but I am not really telling anybody that I will be out there because, frankly, its a short trip and its a trip for me. Regardless I think that it will be a fun, if short, trip.

While I was down in Florida trivia was asked using my questions. The highest score still had 9 wrong answers out of 25 so I can’t complain much about that. I am curious to see what sort of hate mail I get on Monday airmailed my direction (verbally of course) from the other trivia regulars. Also, interesting, it seems that my sister might be coming with to Trivia this week which will be interesting in its own way. Hell, normally I stay the fuck away from mixing family and friends, not because I dislike either group, but its just weird to see them all interact.

Work continues to be work. I am feeling a lot better about work and such after returning from vacation. Having not taken any real time off since October I didn’t realize just how terribly burned out I was until I wasn’t dealing with any of the stress of it. Which is odd, as its not really a terribly stressful job, but there are aspects of it that drive me absolutely insane. Still, its interesting to see more jobs being posted and I will admit to taking a few looks at whats out there. But then again, who wouldn’t?

Other then that, spring is definitely here in MN now. I managed to dust off the bike yesterday and get her back up and running before I went for a lovely 60 mile ride around the cities. Absolutely beautiful to be back out on her, even it was a bit chilly. OK, really fairly chilly. But I don’t know when I will have a chance to go out on her again which is somewhat depressing. Just busy busy times it seems.

So, that more or less catches people up on whats shaking these days with me for the most part. I was serious earlier when I said that I want input on what I should do with Idoru. Whether I actually follow your suggestions is a good question, but I am very curious. Other then that, enjoy the fuck outta spring kids.

Nowadays they ain’t trying to save a rat’s ass

Another few months gone and idoru has continues to lay empty. good thing that I don’t have it set to clear entries after a month as otherwise it would be blank more often then not. So a few brief things to catch up on before I go be social I guess.

Work is mostly the same as always. Spent a week down in Chicago in the middle of February for work which went fantastically although I am still waiting for my company to get the reimbursement to me. Theoretically its supposed to be here on this coming Friday but that was true once before as well so we will see when I get my check. Otherwise I am feeling burnt out with work but there is only so much that can be done about that. Its not much of a surprise after all considering that I haven’t taken so much as an afternoon off work all year.

Speaking of time off from work, later this month I am going down to Florida for a few days away from life. Really looking forward to that as its going to mean that I am getting away from life for a bit. Going to have my phone but I imagine its going to spend most of the vacation sitting in the hotel. Got another trip coming up in April as well but that one is still tentative so I am not spreading it around yet. If I ever do actually. I did get my new passport however so it feels good to be able to go wherever I want again.

Gaming… I haven’t been doing much of that lately. In fact I haven’t really been enjoying it as much lately. Maybe thats due to being a little stir crazy after this seemingly interminable winter or maybe I just have gotten to a point where I am not interested in it as much anymore. I really don’t know and its frankly sort of strange. I mean I bought Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 not too long ago and, aside from the fact that I am pretty bad at it, I am just not that interested in actually playing the game. The same sort of thing happened when i got New Vegas as well. Its a weird sort of thing and I am not sure what it all means but whatever, I’m just gonna keep on keep on.

Anyway, things are overall going well despite the fact that I seem to be unable to turn my brain off. No real surprise about that though. My life is however pretty awesome, however its really lame to just talk about “Yeah, last night I went to dinner with some friends and then grabbed a few bears and then watched a movie before going to bed.” cause frankly its lame as shit when you weren’t there. thats probably a big part of the reason why I haven’t been updating this. Most of my life right now is sort of in that vein that doesn’t translate well to be read.

Anyway… To All My Friends, make sure to have a good one.
