What did she say?

I dunno I was watching her lips

Thank god for Fridays. Its actually a bright beautiful sunny Friday morning here for a change and its really pleasant. I don’t entirely remember the last time we had such a nice start to the weekend weather wise and unlike, say, the east coast this weekend we don’t have predictions of rain yet. So here I am sitting with my balcony door wide open and loving the nice little breeze

Its been actually a fairly quiet week which was a nice change of pace also. Managed to win at Trivia on Monday by a mere 1 point in the final round narrowly avoiding overtime which was fantastic. Then on Tuesday it was back to the gym and some needed relaxing. Seems that there is never quite enough relaxing in life.

Yesterday I managed to get the best massage I have had in years. It was a birthday gift that I just finally got around to using and damn was it nice. Thinking that, particularly since I am trying to go to the gym more often, I might try and go get one on a monthly or bimonthly basis actually. I feel better today and slept better last night then I have in months if not longer. So woohoo for that.

Speaking of the gym, I am doing a decent job of getting there at least a few times a week again. Lifting, cardio, swimming etc. It feels good to be getting back to being physically active more often and while the results aren’t really evident yet, they are beginning to be felt by me which is nice. I am re-learning to love sore muscles. Thats a good thing, I swear to god. Plus its a much better way of working off stress then some of the other methods I have used in the past. Part and parcel of all of that is a healthier diet which is a good thing too. If this continues I am going to be ripped! Or something anyway.

On Tuesday night I watched this documentary which was really interesting to me. I knew that the Mormon church had donated tons of money to the campaign for Prop 8 (which I disagree with anyway) but I didn’t realize some of the other things like Utah having a suicide rate near that of third world countries, or that they had campaigned for this same thing (and in the same way) back in the 90s in Hawaii. I also knew ahead of time that homosexuality was a problem for Mormons but I didn’t realize just how big of a problem it is in their religion. Apparently it also dooms others to their version of hell. Of course their version of heaven sounds fairly fucked up and almost like Christianity mixed with Scientology to me but thats neither here nor there. Anyway it was just interesting and is making me wonder just how tax exempt the Mormon church should be. I am sure they wouldn’t like to know that however…

I also managed to score two tickets to this years Devils-Wild game in December. Finally getting to see not one but both of my favorite hockey teams live and in person. Yes please! Also spent a bunch of money at Amazon on Friday but whatever it was stuff that needed to get bought… or something anyway. Because I really needed Castelvania: Lords of Shadow. But at least I held off on Deus Ex Human Revolution for a while. If not Battlefield 3.

So as everybody under the son who talks to me knows I have been looking at cars lately. And the more I look at cars the more I am realizing that I don’t like much of anything that has been produced in the last few years. Plus there is this which is pretty accurate. Companies like Toyota aren’t really producing cars anymore they are producing … refrigerators. Or toasters. Or some other appliance that people can’t connect to. My immediate reaction was to blame companies like Toyota and Hyundai and Chrysler and VW. After all they are the ones making these cars. After giving it a bit of thought however its really a lot smarter to blame the consumers. Toyota only makes a line of completely boring unremarkable cars because thats what people want to buy. If people had been buying the Celica they would have kept making them. If people had bought more RX8s Mazda would have continued making them. Instead people apparently want boring cars. The worst part about that though is for people like me who want to have a car that they connect with, that they want to drive. They want a car that fits their personality and is worth it to them. Instead their options are to go used (so a company like Toyota wouldn’t see the money anyway) or to go with some shitbox like a yaris or (in my opinion) a Corolla that they hate driving. And if they go with that shitbox then it just reinforces to Toyota that yes, this is the car that people want! Obviously since it sold. And don’t give me any crap about Toyota’s Scion line. The tC is built on the same damn platform as the Corolla. So I guess I am at a bit of an impasse as to what I will do in terms of buying a car. Not where I want to but I suppose I will figure it out. For right now its just something to think about.

If everything goes well today and I get everything I want/need to do done today by 3 pm (probable thankfully) I will probably go get an oil change about 3 pm in my current car (which I don’t think is a shitbox but it is getting older… she turns 20 next year) and then I will end up with the entire weekend to do as I please. Now THAT would be a fantastic way to start this weekend. the idea of having it free to go riding is just too nice.
