What makes the world go round?

What makes you scream so loud?

What a week, lets hit the highlights before I talk about other things. Starting where my week started to get interesting means starting on Thursday. Dropped the bike off for service and then went out for dinner with a few friends of mine. Been forever since I had been on the north side of town although I think it might start to happen again now that the 35w bridge is open. Friday after work I stopped and grabbed some beer and then took care of a few odds and ends before a friend came over. Among other things we discussed politics which is something I have been doing way too damn much lately. Definitely a polarizing election this year and I, true to nature, am arguing every which way of everything.

Saturday I got up and watched a little TV before going to pick the bike up and heading out of town on a nice ride. About 200 miles with nowhere special in mind. On the way back I ended up a little wet but hey, it happens. Just means I need to wash the bike. After that was heading out Sandy’s for some beers and chilling with friends. Thankfully they had the wild game up so I had something worth watching when it was quiet. I was half afraid they would have the red sox game up and frankly I am damn tired of them, Might as well be the Yankees for how interesting they are these days.

Today has been a nice quiet day of taking care of shit that has been neglected for too long in one way or another. Feels good to have the shit taken care of for a change. Now I just need to start staying on top of things again. In a little bit its dinner with my parents where I get to collect their will & testament etc. Little odd to realize that its all signed and sealed these days.

Speaking of signed and sealed, I am glad that I signed myself out of the stock market for now. Yes dollar cost average everybody is supposed to be ok, but I look at the market and go “300 points up and back down in an hour? Count me out.” Its very interesting to see how different people are reacting to the crunch that’s for sure. I know that I am spending my money differently. Then again, I think everybody is, it just makes more sense.

Which leads me to my next subject with an unintentionally good segue. Speaking of segues I saw a cop on a segway recently and chuckled but that’s neither here not there. Nor the topic I was headed towards which is rather the future of this website. Its coming up on due, less then 2 months at this point until I either need to renew or let it expire. I have been waffling back and forth quite a bit on it. On the one hand I do (occasionally) use it, on the other hand would there be a better use for the $20? Do people read it? If I keep it what will I do with it? All of these questions factor in along with a number of other questions. So feel free to weigh in and help me decide.

If I do keep the website then it will be time for a major major overhaul. It would give me a project for this winter that would be pretty damn time consuming. Of course my creative energies haven’t exactly been in the web area lately and I am quite a bit out of touch with the new fancy ways of the web. Might give me a reason to relearn or it might drive me mad, who knows.

Anyway, work is work. I still have a job in this slump, although it is hampering my job search quite a bit. Its a good thing that, for the moment, I am not in any danger of losing my job unless the company completely folds which is not something I see happening in the near future. Eventually maybe but not yet.

Other then that I have three things for you. Apparently I live just north of the city that has the most cops per square mile in the state. I believe it. I have also heard it rumored that it might be the most in the country but can’t confirm. Interesting none the less to me since I deal with it all the time. Second, I found this article on introversion/extroversion very interesting. Mostly the specific locations. I had no idea that I live in one of the most extroverted states but I can believe that too.

Finally, this weeks music video just for you. Great song.

    Hey Farn

I think that people read this. Remember, you told me one time when I was being a smart ass, that I am not the only one to read it. 😉

I dont always comment, but I do read.

  2. just me Says:

    wait…Red Hook?

Remember when I tore my front end off my car last winter making a U turn to get to the doctors? That was right down the street from Red Hook Brewery.

Some read it but the numbers aren’t as high as they were at one point. Maybe a half dozen people at this point I think, at least in terms of any regularity. These were only some of the questions that have been going through my head regarding this site. Always a few more things as well. Besides, its mostly my fault that readership has dropped (due to a variety of reasons).

Interesting, red hook is based out of Seattle. Wonder why they have a second brewery in NH. Unless of course its there just for you to mess your car up with. Very odd. They also make another beer you like if I recall correctly, widmer’s.

  4. just me Says:

yup. You are right. Redhook has a facility in Wa. I was not aware of that.

However, widmer is not made by redhook. I drink the hefeweizen made by widmer. When I can find it, that is.

I tried the Sams Octoberfest a couple of weeks ago. I like it. That really surprised me, as I dont normally like a dark beer.

  5. Farn Says:

Its where they started. I never knew about the NH one, always seen it listed as a WA beer when I am out. Just rarely buy it. Makes me wonder which facility mine comes from.

Widmer is out of OR and actually redhook and widmer are now one company. The Redhook brewery supposedly produces some of the widmer beers. For some reason I can always find it around here.

Sam’s oktoberfest isn’t that dark of a beer. A few weeks back now I was drinking the true German oktoberfest beers. At $5 a pop it wasn’t bad and they were oh so tasty.

Hooray for my “too much knowledge about beer” section of the brain.

I was not aware that Redhook and Widmer are now one. That is a new one on me. No reason for me to know it though. 🙂

Oktoberfest is a lot darker than I am used to. It is funny, I dont like Sam Adams beer, but I like the Summer and the Oktoberfest….guess I will need to try a few different ones.

We all have to be good at something. Beer knowledge is just one of the things you know a lot about.

    Have a great weekend.

  7. Farn Says:

No… you never drank as much as I have.

Sams is… mediocre at best. Its a mass market beer, which can be passable but because its mass market it will never be truly great. Needs to appeal to too many people. Oddly, most people prefer beers that aren’t quite as good because thats what they are used to.

Yeah…. its been determined without a doubt that I can do more then just beer… although i do know a lot about it.

  8. just me Says:

You are a boatload of knowledge about a lot of different things Nick. There is no doubt about that. Why do you think I call you to pick your brain, when needed?

  9. Farn Says:

I actually had a specific thing in mind but I am not quite ready to talk about it at large I think. Bit of a surreal experience. Maybe in my next update maybe not.

  10. just me Says:

always around if you need/want an ear. You know that. Well, not so much nights anymore, but you can leave a message and I can get back to you during a slow period, or on my way home.

    hugs

  11. Farn Says:

I have come to terms with it…did that remarkably quickly. But what it was started around 12:10 on a Saturday night. By the time I got home it was well past one. Nobody wants a call that late in the night.

  12. just me Says:

You have called me later than that. I have never given you a hassle about it.

I was home. I had the kids over night. You could of called. You can always call. I thought you knew that.

  13. Farn Says:

Would have been 2:30 am, I was mostly sober and able to deal with things. Its been covered in the latest post anyway.

perhaps I know that but I rarely call people anymore. I tend to just deal with life’s curve balls.

  14. just me Says:

We all deal with the curve balls. Even the fast balls that blind side you.

All I am sayin is if you need to talk, you know how to reach me.
