Oh God it Feels Like Forever

But no one ever tells you that forever feels like home, Sitting all alone inside your head

So I continue, in the tradition of being me, to do a lot of mental heavy lifting lately. More on that in a little bit I think.

So, yesterday my buddy Mike made the trek from Eau Claire up to the big bad cities…. Scary traffic and road work didn’t deter him! It was basically a random visit from him, which is always nice. We bummed around for the most part, hit a coffee shop, drove the chain of lakes and stopped a few times before we wandered around Lake Harriet. We originally were stopping to try and find the Elf door in a tree that is somewhere around the south edge and ended up walking the entire lake. Then there were some more of my favorite places, places that I rarely get to show to people. Then it was more talking and then he headed home. I hit up Sandy’s Tavern for dinner before buck beers and pool with a different friend. Oh and I found a dreamcast last night as well. Not sure if it works yet but its a complete system with cords and everything. So thats cool. I now have 4 controllers I guess.

Today was random cleaning and coffee with a friend to catch up on old times…. Seems that a number of the same topics keep coming up in my conversations with people and the trend continued into today. Not bad topics but they keep me thinking. Oh, and I found the elf door this afternoon as well. No wonder I haven’t seen the damn thing before, its tiny.

Work is starting to pick up, which is good as it is keeping me busier. That always helps somewhat. I am not sure how its going to interact with the holiday’s this year but as I have nothing planned for the foreseeable future (regarding holiday’s or anything else actually) it doesn’t actually matter to me. Nice that its a bit later then it was last year as I am still able to have somewhat of a life at this point… Turns out I am going to have a lot of vacation time next year, so we will see what the hell I end up doing with that.

I was told today that its not necessarily that I have been through so much of life, its that I think about it and the effects that it has had one me. I recently went and re-read some of my old posts and it is, in fact, interesting to myself to see some of the ways how I have changed over the past year. Its not stuff that effects others for the most part and I am not sure I had really realized it. All well, just keep on keeping on. I sometimes wonder if fall doesn’t make people more introspective.

So about that heavy lifting, I have been thinking a great deal lately about a number of subjects, no real surprise. Its something that has been going on for years and years now as most people know. The individual topics change from time to time of course but a lot of the generalities remain the same as they ever were. I have noticed that some of the subjects I have been thinking about have been showing up in conversations lately at others prompting which has been interesting to me. I am not sure how, exactly, that has worked out but I find it curious.

Other then that…. nothing much going on in my life. Caught an interesting program on Nat Geo tonight I guess. Could be worse. How are things with you guys? Ohhh guns ‘n’ roses…. shiny….

No One Really Wins This Time

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

So… lets start with the beginning…. Colorado. Flew out on Friday, had some mishaps at the Denver airport but made it through it fine and dandy in the end. Spent that Friday night chilling and adjusting to going well over a mile higher then I am used to. Saturday we went hiking around Cheyenne Canyon, Helen Hunt falls (no relation to the actress) and that sort of thing. I did better then Andy which is funny since he lives there and should be used to the thinner air. But all well. Swung over to Pikes peak in an effort to go to the top of it all and the road was closed past the 13th mile. So we went mini-golfing instead. then it was to be relaxing and watching a Devils game but that fell through so to Phantom Canyon brewery for pool, beer and time with Salamander. Then Sonic and some video games.

Sunday it was snowing so we sat around for the most part and played video games, followed by dinner with Sal and DD, then it was all about the video games until the wee hours. Monday we bummed around a bit then headed up to Dave and Busters in Denver. Let me tell you, that’s a cool place…. Chuck E. Cheese with beer. Then more dinner with Sal and DD, which was great. Tuesday, the final day, we went and bummed around a bit in the Garden of the Gods and then over to America the Beautiful park. Then it was the drive up to Denver one last time were Andy and I parted ways. Made me sad to do… Made it home a bit later then i was supposed to, was crabby and pissed a few different people off.

Wednesday was back to the grind. Friday was a work happy hour. Saturday was quiet, dinner with a friend was really the only thing of note. Good food too. Sunday I went for a variety of walks…. A couple different parks. I actually took almost as many pictures that day as I did while I was in Colorado.

Tuesday was a half day at work, went for a good long ride. Since then… nothing terribly important has happened. Its Saturday now and I am not sure what I am going to do with the rest of the weekend at this point but I am sure I will find something….

Been spending a lot of time lately thinking about things, most of them are much much to heavy but that’s just a part of me I think. Been working on a lot of different things internally. I suspect that’s going to continue for a while…. maybe part of its the fall but I feel like I have a lot of things I am working on mentally right now.

Oh and joy of joy, its the end of DST today (or the beginning or whatever). An extra hour for me to do … something with.

I haven’t gotten any pictures uploaded yet except for this one shot. I am working on figuring out what to do regarding the size of my account. Whether to pull somethings off my server or to just increase the space.

Work is ok, we are just swinging into the busy season so I am already starting to spend more time there. Gonna be a busy few months I suspect. But all well.

And with that… my coffee has run out. Back to whatever it is that I feel I should be doing.

Apparently what I felt like I should be doing is cleaning and paying paying bills. My apartment is fucking spotless and soon the last of my bills will be taken care of. For the moment. Too bad the moment will go all to quickly.

I would walk 500 miles
