What makes the world go round?

What makes you scream so loud?

What a week, lets hit the highlights before I talk about other things. Starting where my week started to get interesting means starting on Thursday. Dropped the bike off for service and then went out for dinner with a few friends of mine. Been forever since I had been on the north side of town although I think it might start to happen again now that the 35w bridge is open. Friday after work I stopped and grabbed some beer and then took care of a few odds and ends before a friend came over. Among other things we discussed politics which is something I have been doing way too damn much lately. Definitely a polarizing election this year and I, true to nature, am arguing every which way of everything.

Saturday I got up and watched a little TV before going to pick the bike up and heading out of town on a nice ride. About 200 miles with nowhere special in mind. On the way back I ended up a little wet but hey, it happens. Just means I need to wash the bike. After that was heading out Sandy’s for some beers and chilling with friends. Thankfully they had the wild game up so I had something worth watching when it was quiet. I was half afraid they would have the red sox game up and frankly I am damn tired of them, Might as well be the Yankees for how interesting they are these days.

Today has been a nice quiet day of taking care of shit that has been neglected for too long in one way or another. Feels good to have the shit taken care of for a change. Now I just need to start staying on top of things again. In a little bit its dinner with my parents where I get to collect their will & testament etc. Little odd to realize that its all signed and sealed these days.

Speaking of signed and sealed, I am glad that I signed myself out of the stock market for now. Yes dollar cost average everybody is supposed to be ok, but I look at the market and go “300 points up and back down in an hour? Count me out.” Its very interesting to see how different people are reacting to the crunch that’s for sure. I know that I am spending my money differently. Then again, I think everybody is, it just makes more sense.

Which leads me to my next subject with an unintentionally good segue. Speaking of segues I saw a cop on a segway recently and chuckled but that’s neither here not there. Nor the topic I was headed towards which is rather the future of this website. Its coming up on due, less then 2 months at this point until I either need to renew or let it expire. I have been waffling back and forth quite a bit on it. On the one hand I do (occasionally) use it, on the other hand would there be a better use for the $20? Do people read it? If I keep it what will I do with it? All of these questions factor in along with a number of other questions. So feel free to weigh in and help me decide.

If I do keep the website then it will be time for a major major overhaul. It would give me a project for this winter that would be pretty damn time consuming. Of course my creative energies haven’t exactly been in the web area lately and I am quite a bit out of touch with the new fancy ways of the web. Might give me a reason to relearn or it might drive me mad, who knows.

Anyway, work is work. I still have a job in this slump, although it is hampering my job search quite a bit. Its a good thing that, for the moment, I am not in any danger of losing my job unless the company completely folds which is not something I see happening in the near future. Eventually maybe but not yet.

Other then that I have three things for you. Apparently I live just north of the city that has the most cops per square mile in the state. I believe it. I have also heard it rumored that it might be the most in the country but can’t confirm. Interesting none the less to me since I deal with it all the time. Second, I found this article on introversion/extroversion very interesting. Mostly the specific locations. I had no idea that I live in one of the most extroverted states but I can believe that too.

Finally, this weeks music video just for you. Great song.

Don’t say another word you’re gonna ruin everything

I’m just choosin every dream that I’ve had with my flavor

Another week gone by and this one was actually more fun then not, for the most part. There were, of course, some downs but hey, it coulda been worse. So lets take that shit from the top and spin it down slow for you now.

Last week I did indeed end up going out and having a few beers. Best bar in the world is the one that has you served before you even sit down. Made some smart choices that night and they paid some dividends which I am happy about. Sunday I started working through Mass Effect and am fucking loving it. Seriously, I have owned the game since sometime in August, why did it take me so long to start? Which reminds me that I need to renew my Live membership sometime… next month I think. Anyway, after dinner I finally watched “There Will Be Blood.” Long movie but good. I see why it won best picture and best actor.

Tuesday was the dentist, another 6 months with no cavities. In fact, my teeth are in better shape then they have been for years. Now my dentist is trying to get me to bleach them and, if I continue to slow down my coffee consumption, I might do it. On the other hand I am also sure that there are better uses for my money. Wednesday I took some time off from work to go for a motorcycle ride. Good use of my time and money. Quite a bit of fun.

Fast forward a few days since nothing terribly exciting happened for the most part. Friday night I went out with a buddy and found a fantastic new (to me) liquor store. Cheap scotch, whiskey and other good things. As they say: “Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker” then out to a bar before swinging by his place. Unfortunately he was driving the entire time and I didn’t feel like crashing on his couch after he got a bit tipsy so I walked home a little after midnight. Got home around 1 after a very pleasant walk.

Saturday I hopped on the bike and went for a nice leisurely cruise. About 200 miles with a rest stop here and there. The bike is in great running shape and I am continuing to ride her like I stole her. Nice after all the random problems I have had this year when I did get to ride it. After that it was dinner and then to Gasthof’s for Oktoberfest celebrations. 1.5 liters of beer and a mug later it turned into an excellent evening. Old friends, new friends, beer, and polka. Plus any bar where the smallest amount of beer you can get is a half liter is good in my book.

Today has been a fairly quiet day with a bit of running round to the oldest indoor mall in the US, target, hallmark, gamestop that sort of thing. Kept my purchases fairly light which is nice. Didn’t end up getting any new games as what they had wasn’t worth the price. Now its quiet time before bed I think although I do have a friend who wants to get together today.

Got a new addition to my “to buy” list which is a lovely ipod touch. Thinking the 16 gb right now but who knows. Its got to wait a while before I actually can buy and by then I might just be too busy to get it until next year. Plus I might change my mind and go 32gb, who knows at this point.

Work is work, heating up some but not enough to feel the crunch badly yet. It continues to pay my bills and I continue to show up for it so we have an understanding right now. Still looking but with the economy as such… its difficult to find something better then waiting tables or working at a gas station. Hopefully after the election the economy does something but I am not really expecting it to be that soon. Really I think I am just hoping the damn election will be over sooner rather then later.

I think that’s about all that I feel like writing for the moment so here is this week’s music video for you all. See if I can get some culture in you kids. And maybe next week i will share more then just the highlights of my week.

He’s Saying Whoops

There’s another one down to the Middle of the Night.

Ok, this is attempt number three to actually update this thing. Not sure why I am actually trying to update it today since I am not feeling particularly inspired by the randomness of my life. The first time I got a sentence into this and said “Fuck it” the second time I wrote a paragraph and realized it was stuff that I had rehashed before about 40 times in the last year. Seriously, skip the old ground , whats new with life?

The short answer to that is not much. I have been working a lot of little short term goals rather then big picture goals for the last few months. That trend is still continuing although in a different way. Before it was getting stuff done for some sort of random deadline. Now its getting stuff taken care of so that I will have the loose ends tied up as I turn towards the big picture. I am feeling myself getting closer to that picture and enjoying that feeling quite a bit.

Ok, enough ephemeral crap. Time for the random. Been a bit of a hermit this week while I was either in a bad mood due to work or due to taking care of solo activities (not jerking off pervs). Plus it saves me money for some potential trips that are starting to loom. In fact this weekend was supposed to be one but the timing and the money didn’t end up working out for, well, anybody. However I think that tonight I will change my hermit ways and go out for an hour or three after I finish writing this.

Work is starting to heat up, partially because I am rarely able to get to do any actual work instead of mindlessly reviewing other people’s work. It makes for an extremely frustrating period of time right now but hopefully things are transitioning to where I want them. Maybe, just maybe, I played my cards right. Then again who knows, time will tell. Friday i did get to work and absolutely loved it.

Other then that… perhaps a motorcycle ride tomorrow. Perhaps hanging with some friends. Who knows. Seems my life is generally business as usual right now and I can’t bring myself to complain. So here’s a music video. Enjoy, I did the first time I saw it.
