‘fore they askin what happened to you

So its been a little while since I thought about this much. Seems to be back to doing this thing in spurts, so to say, mostly because there isn’t a whole lot that’s worth discussing the majority of the time. However since its a rainy blah day right now, I will throw a few words out there.

Been riding a fair bit this year. Already clocked over 2k on the bike this year so far putting the bike somewhere past 26k total on her. Just about half of them are mine and I have some vague hopes of getting her near 30k this year. Frankly that seems pretty possible as I don’t have a ton of other plans right now.

Work continues to go forward. Taking some time off around the end of the month to do not a whole lot. Thinking that I might try and get lasik during that time. Hell, if I can afford it I would love to not have to wear contacts while I ride and that’s truly the main reason that I am considering the lasik.

The majority of my life continues on continuing on. And that’s really the main reason why I haven’t been updating this. There aren’t any massive changes going on, nor any terrific vacations (although my short trip to Iowa last month was very pleasant). Truthfully, while I am enjoying the hell out of my life, it doesn’t make for the most exciting reading right now. Plus it seems that most of the minor day to day stuff seems to end up on twitter. Such a weird service that one and yet I have found I do like it.

I guess I am living one of those “You have to be there” moments right now and frankly, its just about perfect.

I am getting back into reading again as well as playing a few video games. E3 presented a few things I am interested in and Prototype, which comes out next week, looks really great. Might flop completely but it looks interesting. Slightly surprised however that there is no demo that I have managed to find on XBL. I would have thought that it would be hyped as a number of people seem interested in it. Then again… I only heard about just before E3. Speaking of E3, most of the views that I have have been mentioned by other people however regarding the whole natal, motion plus, whatever the PS3 motion is called… I will believe those when I truly see them. They have the potential to be cool, but tech demos… No thanks. Assassins creed 2 however is something I am super excited for.

Screech those tires, yeah and scrape the sides

What a great weekend this one is turning out to be.Lets take the last week or so from the top. Tuesday after going back to work I hit the bar since it was 97F and by the time I realized that it was too late for my A/C. A few cold pitchers and A/C helped tremendously though. Wednesday was a quiet night at home catching the season finale of Criminal Minds. Like I told my friend right afterwords, it was a great episode and as opposed to say numb3rs managed to leave me really wanting more. Thursday was off to see terminator with a few friends. We make it to the theater and end up deciding to see Star Trek instead. Great movie and one that I would have no problem seeing again. The casting alone… well done all around.

Friday I stopped by the bar since its closed for the remainder of the weekend due to the holiday weekend. Sure there are … other bars but not as much fun and pricier so I don’t go t those nearly as often. After a while there it was off to Roseville for a friends party. Great fun and I was only moderately offensive to people I wasn’t a huge fan of. Not that i was actually trying, they just had a better sense of humor about it then most.

Yesterday was wake up and take care of all the assorted detritus of things waiting to get taken care of. Laundry, calling family that sort of thing. Then it was off for a nice and long ride. Apparently WI has opened up their waysides again which makes me overjoyed. More scenic then a rest stop even if they are a bit more rustic. Plus they are on roads I actually want to use, rather then the super slab. I also realized as I was headed home yesterday that I have ridden almost 1,500 miles this year. I remember reading a statistic that the average rider puts in somewhere around 1k per year so I am ahead of that game.

Today its downloading the newest version of ubuntu to throw on the laptop hooked up to the TV (eventually) and after I finish my coffee more riding. Then I get to see a great friend who I haven’t seen in a few years. Can’t wait even though I am not sure, at all, what the heck we are going to do. maybe some drinks in st. Paul as we were both invited to that. Thankfully, from my perspective, it doesn’t really matter!

And with that, time to go get ready for a ride before I see her. What a great weekend this one is turning out to be.

Didn’t know i had been bleeding

Stupid end of the weekend. Day 4 of being able to sleep in and relax, I imagine that its going to suck to go back to work tomorrow. But lets do the last weeks recap instead.

Last Monday I went out with a couple of people, some of whom I hadn’t ever seen, some of whom I hadn’t seen in times ranging from a few months to a year and a half. Couple of drinks and just generally good clean fun, no doubt about that. Tuesday was wings with some other friends which was also a great time. Wednesday and Thursday afforded me a little bit of downtime which was a welcome relief, then Friday was road tripping across the universe. Or at least down to Iowa to see a good friend. Fun time and i certainly needed to get away from the cities. Back up here Saturday for some stuff around the cities followed by stopping off at the bar. Then Sunday was pretty standard for a nice summer day where i am not at work: riding. Plus lunch with a friend. made a stop off at the bar last night too actually.

Like I said, took a long weekend since I am trying to not accumulate too much vacation time right around now. Seems like it would be a bad idea to have too much more then the company would be willing/able to pay out should there end up being a reduction in force. So, they will pay me a weeks work of vacation, I will not go over that by more then a day or two. But I will certainly be willing to go under that since the last couple of months I will have basically no vacation. Obviously still keeping my eyes open on whats around out there (just like everybody else in the world) but at the moment there ain’t much it seems.

Been continuing to work on various little projects throughout the day/week/month. Nothing too special and actually nothing at all involving Idoru. Not even going to pretend that I have been. Especially since Gallery 3 is still in Alpha release. But I have been working on the laptop hooked up to my TV. Think I am finally going to splurge and get myself a wireless keyboard/mouse combo for it as well. Also highly debating about whether I want to upgrade my palm pilot and pickup an iPod touch. After so many years avoiding that particular empire… its just a damn solid machine so I am highly tempted to say the least. I might even pull the trigger on it today since this is an extra paycheck month.

Other then that, not a whole lot going on right now. Its kinda nice and I am certainly enjoying the fact that the only thing I have to get done today is go grocery shopping. Since the weather is pretty nice I might just sneak another ride in today even. Oh, and keep thinking about whether or not I want to get lasik now that I have had a consult.
