Fiesta + Fiascos

Think about what you’ve got, compare it what I’ve got and then ask yourself:what do you think my girl wants?

So yesterday my friends Jay and Laura got married. Let me tell you that it is still sinking in to me that two good friends of mine have decided to seal the deal, so to speak. I have to say that the ceremony itself was actually awe inspiring. According to somebody (Probably the only person in the entire house actually) who had a clear view of all us groomsmen, we looked about this close to losing it: ||. I am sure it was for various reasons all things considered but the period of the vows was just absolutely amazing. I went outside afterwords and just said “Holy fucking shit” a few times.

Something else that you don’t really think about. You expect weddings to have a certain amount of class. Nothing specific just a certain air of solemnity and this wedding far surpassed any other wedding I have been to. It wasn’t ostentatious, it was just perfect class. It seemed to be exactly what the bride and groom wanted and that my friends go further then just about anything else in saying what a fucking great wedding it was.

Some other rather random highlights from the proceedings. I got to spend entirely too much time with one of my best friends and at the same time not enough time. I got to see a whole lot of really cool friends that I don’t often see. I have a flask which is a completely useful gift to give to anybody who happens to be standing up at an alter for whatever reason. I was told more then once that I look good in a tuxedo (and happen to agree). I drove 5 miles an hour down the main drag in a town of 17k blasting super loud rap music. Seriously nobody would look at us and we actually had a door get locked as we drove (slowly) towards them. I wouldn’t be surprised if the cops were called at one point or another on us. I ended up with the garter (see the webcam) which I find amusing, lets just say thats not the first time I have walked out of a wedding with a garter or some other article of clothing thats not mine. Plus a whole lot of other memories. There were some bad parts as well (there always are) but generally speaking it was a good way to spend a weekend, even if it was long. Long enough that i am debating calling in sick tomorrow to catch up on my sleep some.

Then tonight after I dropped the best man off at the airport I had the joy of going to a going away party for my aunt. She is being moved by her company to Switzerland for the next three years. Frankly I feel that its pretty fucking awesome as an opportunity for her. In some ways I am kind of envious of her ability to pull it off, even though the logistics of it are just difficult as all hell. i am pretty sure that, for now, that sort of thing would be beyond me. Especially since, if for example I worked for her company, they would want me to own property stateside.

Other then that… still working on those vacations. This weekend put me one step closer to one of them.

Oh and the wedding pictures that I took (all reception all the time) are right over here. Expect that to be added to in a while, but certainly not for a while.

It was a joy to be a part of a wedding like that, truly. You made it easy. Plus you weren’t a bridezilla bitch which is always nice 😉
