For some reason I have been on a real kick lately with LFTR PLLR but I still haven’t bothered to try out the new project from the lead singer and … the bassist? The guitarist? One of those guys. I imagine its all fairly similar which is fine by me since its not broken. From what I remember they are called “The Hold Steady.” One of these days I will remember to bother.

So, yeah, the bridge collapse. I meant to update earlier and let everybody know that I am ok as is everybody I know. Was an interesting night, hard to get through to anywhere on cell phones and the like. I used to drive across that bridge at least once a week. It was the main way to get to Nordeast, the north burbs, north of the city. Anything like that. Its pretty damn fucked up truth be told. I wandered down there the day after it all went down and took a few pictures. Its hard to believe unless you do see it in person truth be told, the pictures really don’t do it justice. Cops from all over, rescue operations, the whole nine yards. An 8 lane bridge isn’t supposed to just collapse like that. There are all sorts of random theories floating around right now. How much you buy into them is up to you of course.

In other news, I got a new phone (not number just a new phone) recently and its fairly spiffy. Its my Dad’s old Razr, which I used to hate but it seems to work well, operate nicely, has some nice features, that sort of thing. Works better then my phone before did which would randomly stop working correctly and that sort of thing. Plus I can take pictures with it (which I don’t do a lot of but it does come in handy now and again when i see something absolutely stupid, like an 80s Monte Carlo on 24 inch rims. the car was seriously about as tall as I am.

Also, my car got broken into last week, yes again. Tuesday night or so, this time they went in through the passenger window and rifled through the trunk. I figure eventually these people will learn that I don’t keep anything worth stealing in my car. Why would I? So nothing got stolen but I had to shell a few hundred bucks out for a new window. I have been in contact with a lawyer (who is also a relative so its free!) about what my options are. Cause its stupid to have to spend $400+ in less then 8 months for two new windows in my car while its parked in my garage. And they are no longer tinted of course. At least I am luckier then the other guys who got broken into, they both lost stereos.

Other then that, been a quiet few nights. Went to a big band concert on Thursday night which was overall pretty good. Certainly fun to listen to. Then last night I went for a walk with a few friends around part of Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun, before grabbing a beer with them. Just a good quiet evening out.

There is talk of a much less quiet night out tonight with an old friend, something or another about a concert at the dinkytowner to see a hip hop show. Not sure what the cover is though.

Other then that, just been a mostly quiet morning of doing computer maintenance on two different computers (general upkeep, nothing actively broken or anything).
