Just like your motor, I’m ready hot and built to last

Hell, if cruising is your poison, let me cruise ya

Life is pretty goddamn stellar right now. But lets start off from the top. Last weekend I got off from work a few hours early and drove out west to Watertown MN, a town of roughly 3k people ti see two of my friends get hitched. They certainly seemed happy and the reception included a pig roast. That’s always a winner in my book. Course I had a blinker burn out on my way to the wedding so I had to be extra careful when I drove home. The next day of course I took care of that minor issue and then took care of random other issues before meeting up with a coworker for some beer. Following that, it was too the bar for some beer and burgers before video games at home with my buddies.

The rest of the weekend and subsequent week were more or less the same. Wednesday I met up with a coworker to plan some strategy for the upcoming busy season. Its a somewhat dismal outlook but more on that in a few minutes. Thursday morning I overslept. By an amazing amount no less. I didn’t get into work until almost 10 when I am normally there by about 7 am. It was … an interesting experience and one I hope to never replicate without future warning to my boss. Plus side is that i didn’t loose any PTO or anything and still didn’t have to work on Friday. So Friday I went out for a ride, followed by stopping by the bar for a bit to see some of my buddies. Saturday was more riding, wherein realized I need to futz with some things on the bike today (isn’t that always the case?) and will probably go do that in just a few minutes.

Work is work… we are heading into our busy season and I am fairly certain its going to be the worst one in years. Not only do we have new management but there are also some people out there who are trying to make us fail rather then just sitting back and seeing what happens. Still, my new boss seems to have a solid head on his shoulders and I have no other option then to do what I always do and see what happens. next week is going to be interesting since I will be flying solo for the entire week. Still, just slog through.

Life is pretty much awesome right now. I have been feeling better, bother physically and mentally, then I have in years I think. These life changes are a good thing all around and I can’t complain. Actually, I would be a fool to complain since its due to intentional changes in my life. When work is really the only thing to stress me out at all right now it means that I have to be doing something right.

Picked up some XBLA points and trying to decide between picking up Trials HD or Shadow Complex first. The first is like extreme Excitebike and the demo was fun but I am fairly certain that I would end up frustrated. The other, well, it gets amazing reviews but I am not sure how much, if any, replay value there is to it. Although now that I think about it, I will probably pick that up first. Still playing BF1943 on and off, although lately I haven’t been gaming much. By lately I mean this week roughly. Other then that… enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend (except for you in South Korea… yeah no holiday for you huh! How you like THAT?!)

these sabre-toothed thugs are so heavily armed

So huh, 2 weeks or so since I updated, where the hell has the time gone? Oh yeah, Battlefield 1943 has eaten up a huge chunk of the time. When I get them I suspect that Trials HD and Shadow Complex will eat up a bunch of my time as well, but that’s waiting for another paycheck. I find it interesting that I am gaming as much as I have been recently since, generally, I don’t game much at all in the summer. Still its fun.

Sort of oddly in the recent two weeks or so I have felt like I have had a great deal of time to get everything done. Its a welcome change since it allows me to go and do the things I enjoy as well as the things I feel that I need to get done. now if only that would translate to tons of cash as well, but for right now I am happy with the time since, as they say, time is money.

Work is work, still interesting watching all of the reactions, both within and outside of the company, to the public health care debate going on. I have my feelings and they won’t change but its very interesting to watch the differing opinions as well as the (sometimes) well formed arguments on both sides of the debate. Either way, I am looking forward to a 4 day weekend for labor day weekend.

The bike is doing fantastically, got out for a few hundred miles on Sunday and I think that it was exactly what I needed out of life. Hopefully after the wedding this weekend I will get another chance to go out riding for a chunk of the weekend. Debating about going somewhere labor day weekend (especially since my normal Saturday activities are canceled due to the holiday) but not sure that I want to deal with all of the random people that flock out of town that weekend. Guess we will see what I end up deciding to do when the time comes.

Other then that, there are a variety of changes going on in my life at the moment but until they are habit rather then just what I want to become habit I am going to let them hang out in my own head.

To kiss with a girl who’s as lovely as you

I’d give you my heart, if you gave me the truth

So lets play catchup. Its going to be pretty damn brief though. Wednesday I picked the bike up and it seemed to be going great, or rather it started and had headlights so it was fixed. After that was chores followed by video games. Friday night I went Lunar style on some games and played more or less until everybody else dropped out where after I proceeded to finally get my much needed beauty rest. I also seem to have started getting adjusted to the 360 for MvC2 which means that I am starting to play like an actual contestant again. No real worried about getting achievements in that game however so more or less … whatever. Saturday was bumming around followed by a few hours at the bar.

Sunday I went out riding for a few hours and the bike still seems to be running fine so I am not terribly worried at this point. After a bit of riding it was stopping by pennfest where I had a few drinks and hung out with some lovely cheerleaders and miller girls, in addition to, of course, the other regulars. Today was back to work where I just wasn’t feeling it so I ended up taking a half day to go and knock out a large number of things on my to do list. Matter of fact a hair cut is about the only thing left on there at the moment since the bills haven’t come in yet.

Speaking of work, its nice to still have a job however I am getting very tired of the misinformation out there regarding health care reform. Take that how you will and I certainly don’t think its in my best interests to get into a prolonged debate from either side of the argument. Otherwise, there are various changes going on around my department, again. Not sure what these ones will bring for me either so I am back at a wait and see situation unfortunately. Hopefully these changes are good and considering some of them I don’t think that they will be bad at all.

Weather-wise… its definitely summer here in MN at least for this week. Had some nasty storms starting Friday night, I actually lost power for a few minutes which was rough to say the least. Saturday was hot and humid as hell, with tornadoes, floods and heat advisories around the metro area. This week is supposed to be in the mid to upper 80s all week with some possible blips into the 90s. Except, of course, for the weekend. That’s supposed to be rainy. Nice to see that the season has finally caught up a bit, I was starting to think we would get winter starting in September.

had a lot of weird coincidences in my life over the course of the past week or so. Still not sure what to make of really any of them at the moment so I am just keeping my trap shut and letting them go unless something comes up to make me think I shouldn’t. Its pretty kick ass to realize I have gotten better at that as the years have gone forward.

Otherwise the at the moment section of the site has been updated so that’s new. Have plans to meet a buddy for a few beers on Wednesday which should be nice. He is, yet another, guy from the Internet but I am not exactly expecting to be shoved in a trunk. In other words, looking forward to it all. Otherwise… I think it might be getting near time to play some battlefield 1943. Which I have gotten better at surprisingly quickly. Its damn nice. So, whats new with you?
